Last year, West Nile virus was found in every county in Florida. But
there was no epidemic in humans. Now, experts are looking to the weather
for clues about its spread this year. Watching for West Nile Virus,

The West Nile virus came to the U.S. in a limited outbreak in 1999. By last year it had spread to much of the country, including every county in Florida, where conditions are perfect for it to stay. Hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. might have been infected with West Nile virus, and not even be aware of it.
