April in Florida has been proclaimed Butterfly Month, in part, to
recognize the Miami Blue butterfly: one of the rarest animals in the
world. But, laboratory breeding and hatching might help reintroduce the
species. Celebrating Florida's Butterflies in today's Florida
Environment... The Governor and Cabinet have proclaimed April in Florida, Butterfly
and Butterfly Gardening month. That's partly in recognition of a dramatic

An emergency protection and breeding program might have saved a Florida butterfly from extinction.
